The jewel, as a portable sculpture, requires from a technical point of view extremely meticulous work. Here we are speaking of milimeters. Arlette's artistic challenge was to work with a block of wax as masterfully as with clay, which is smooth and fluid to work with.

What makes a piece of jewelry interesting are the choice and arrangement of the materials, which are selected to illustrate the idea and materialize her inspiration. For example, NEPTUNE’s centerpiece is the imprint of a coral cast in silver; the pearls are made of coral; and the separators are conical silver that result from the imprint of a shell with the same shape. Put together they depict a marine theme.

Arlette works with gold and silver, which she embellishes with gemstones such as coral, turquoise, lapis lazuli, pearls, amber, hematite, etc. She also uses wax carving and casting for her large sculptures as seen by the hair and clothing of the dancer in the sculpture VIENS.
