BRONZE OF FATHER ÉMILE LEGAULT
The bust of Father Émile-Legault has been installed since 2003, at the entrance to the theater that bears his name (neighboring door to the Musée des Maîtres et Artisans du Québec), on Boulevard Sainte-Croix in St-Laurent, Quebec.
Following up on Father André Legault's proposal, Arlette took up the challenge of performing the bronze bust of his brother, Father Émile Legault, renowned as a pioneer of classical theater in Quebec and Canada.
"You have to be able to get into the psychology of the person, but I had never met Father Legault. His brother provided me with a lot of pictures, so I could see him from all angles” - Arlette
The challenge was to create a sculpture not from a live model, but from photos. A photo crushes the features; it was therefore a question of reconstituting the volume and bringing this portrait to life.
